NITTIPARA, 3 October 2026: The 800th anniversary of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi was celebrated on Saturday at Nittipara village under Mary Our Help Parish, Khnjanpur, in the Diocese of Joypurhat. The celebration began with a solemn Holy Eucharist and a procession. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Biswas, SDB, Principal of Don Bosco Strauss School and College, Joypurhat, presided over the Holy Mass. Deacon Ankur Boiragi assisted in the celebration and served at the altar.
Around 65 faithful took part in the celebration. The gathering focused on the life and spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi. The faithful joined in prayer and thanksgiving. The celebration highlighted his message of peace, simplicity, fraternity and love for creation.
The programme concluded with a community meal shared by all the participants. The meal provided an opportunity for fellowship and interaction among the faithful. The celebration brought together the local community in prayer, thanksgiving and fraternity to mark the 800th anniversary of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
